Welcome
Welcome to Our Website!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A little over 30 years ago a band of believers started a fellowship to reach out to the people of Muscle Shoals and Eastern Colbert County. Over the years the church has grown but the vision has remained the same.

Today, Muscle Shoals First Church of the Nazarene is still committed to being a light in our community. We invite you to get to know us - but more than that, our desire is that you'd get to know the amazing God we serve.

A Thought for the Week!
I'm a fan of HOLINESS TODAY on Facebook... here was their thought for today, Monday 9/13/2010:

"This week, face your circumstances with grace and dignity. Rise above your insecurities. Are you going to controlled by fears, or faith?"

Paul tells us "We live by faith and not by sight." (2 Corinthians 5:7) Let's look for and live by at what is unseen - by faith!
Unconditional Love
A friend of mine (Lamar Smith) sent this to me via email. Thought you might enjoy it...

Unconditional love is such a beautiful thing. It is such a God thing. A person may have personality traits that rub us the wrong way. To love that person with the love of the one who loves us sets us free. If we think about how undeserving they are and “what they have done” it won’t happen. But if we will love others like God has loved us in spite of “what we have done”, then that is divine.

Matthew 5:43-48 NIV 43 "You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' 44 But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

You May Be The Only Bible Some Will Ever Read!
A friend sent this to me via e-mail. They started by saying… “Now this is a Living Bible.” I thought it put in terms anyone can understand what “Focusing on the Kingdom” is all about… focusing on people!

His name is Bill. He has wild hair, wears a T-shirt with holes in it, jeans, and no shoes. This was literally his wardrobe for his entire four years of college. He is brilliant. He is kind of profound and very, very bright. He became a Christian while attending college.

Across the street from the campus is a well-dressed, very conservative church. They want to develop a ministry to the students but are not sure how to go about it.

One day Bill decides to go there. He walks in with no shoes, jeans, his T-shirt full of holes, and wild hair. The service has already started and so Bill starts down the aisle looking for a seat.

The church is completely packed and he can't find a seat. By now, people are really looking a bit uncomfortable, but no one says anything. Bill gets closer and closer and closer to the pulpit, and when he realizes there are no seats, he just sits down right on the carpet. By now the people are really uptight, and the tension in the air is thick.

About this time, the minister realizes that from way at the back of the church, a deacon is slowly making his way toward Bill. Now the deacon, in his eighties, has silver-gray hair, and a three-piece suit. He is a godly man, very elegant, very dignified, very courtly. He walks with a cane and, as he starts walking toward this boy, everyone is saying to themselves that you can't blame him for what he's going to do. How can you expect a man of his age and of his background to understand some college kid on the floor?

It takes a long time for the man to reach the boy. The church is utterly silent except for the clicking of the man's cane. All eyes are focused on him. You can't even hear anyone breathing. The minister can't even preach the sermon until the deacon does what he has to do.

And now, to their amazement, they see this elderly man drop his cane on the floor and he lower himself to sit down next to Bill. There, he worships with the young man so he won't be alone.

Everyone chokes up with emotion. When the minister gains control, he says: “What I'm about to preach, you will never remember. What you have just seen, you will never forget.”

Be careful how you live. You may be the only Bible some people will ever read!
Which Tent are You Living In?
John Maxwell, in his book Think on These Things wrote this:
“All men live in one of two tents - content or discontent. In which do you live?

The contented man looks beyond his circumstances and sees a better day; the discontented looks at his circumstances and sees no other way.

The contented man understands the purpose for which he was born; the discontented man looks at others success with a face that is filled with scorn.

The contented man has surrendered to a purpose that demands his best; the discontented man has selfishly hoarded much and grasping for more,, will not rest.

The contented man has places his values on things which will forever last; the discontented man has placed his values on things which will soon be past.

The contented man is anchored to clear goals and is hardly ever swayed; the discontented man has no goals that anchor him and is many times dismayed.

The contented man counts his blessings and names them one by one; the discontented man counts other’s blessings and thinks he has no fun.

All men live in one of two tents - content or discontent. In which tent do you live?”

Good thought... In which tent are you living?
